متن کاملCoexistence of low threshold lasing and strong coupling in microcavities
We report the coexistence of low threshold lasing and strong coupling in a high-quality semiconductor microcavity under near-resonant optical pumping. A sharp laser mode splits from the lower-polariton branch and approaches the bare cavity mode frequency as the pump power increases. The lasing is produced by low density localized exciton states, which are weakly coupled to the cavity mode. The ...
متن کاملSwitchable lasing in multimode microcavities.
We propose the new concept of a switchable multimode microlaser. As a generic, realistic model of a multimode microresonator a system of two coupled defects in a two-dimensional photonic crystal is considered. We demonstrate theoretically that lasing of the cavity into one selected resonator mode can be caused by injecting an appropriate optical pulse at the onset of laser action (injection see...

© Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015 Y.S. Zhao (ed.), Organic Nanophotonics, Nano-Optics and Nanophotonics, DOI 10.1007/978-3-662-45082-6_2 Abstract The photophysics of planar microcavities which employ organic materials as the optically resonant medium to achieve the strong-coupling regime is discussed. While as a result of the light–matter coupling, cavity polariton branches appear which ...
متن کاملDirectional emission from dye-functionalized plasmonic DNA superlattice microcavities.
Three-dimensional plasmonic superlattice microcavities, made from programmable atom equivalents comprising gold nanoparticles functionalized with DNA, are used as a testbed to study directional light emission. DNA-guided nanoparticle colloidal crystallization allows for the formation of micrometer-scale single-crystal body-centered cubic gold nanoparticle superlattices, with dye molecules coupl...
